10 Tips to Make Your Android Phones Faster Again

Almost every Android smartphone gets slow over time. But no problem - with our 10 tuning tips, you can make your mobile phone faster again.

It is not uncommon for a cell phone to slow down. Whether it is Samsung, Huawei, Sony, or LG - almost every owner of an Android smartphone will notice that the cell phone is reacting more and more slowly with time. There are many reasons for this: too many installed apps, full memory, too many background processes, and data storage. On the other hand, the only thing that can help you is:

either get a new mobile phone or clean the old one completely. The phone menu design should also be examined. Because even animated wallpapers, widgets, or launchers can slow down the system. We show you how to go about making your cell phone faster again - and what you can do without.

Do not forget: due to the numerous versions of Android running on smartphones and tablets, and the fact that each manufacturer adds its applications, services, and functions to the operating system, it is possible that not all the tips presented in this article will be suitable for working on all devices to achieve the desired effect. In addition, the designations of individual menus may vary.

Here are ten ways to make your phone fast :

1. Reboots often do wonders

The first and most effective trick to speed up a slow phone: restart it. When closed, the system clears temporary data and stops running background processes. Result: After restarting, some potential brakes are released.

2. Home screen at a glance:

widgets and wallpaper disappeared

You can create up to nine start screens on Android phones. The more applications and gadgets there are, the slower the cell phone will sometimes react. Helps reduce the number of home screens.

The smartphone is also slowed down by widgets, especially those that are constantly updated automatically, such as the weather. Think about which ones you need and delete the others from the home screen by long pressing on them and choosing Remove. Also, disable the animated background and choose a static wallpaper instead. To do this, long-press on the home screen and go to Wallpapers. Sometimes the pre-installed user interface of the smartphone is overloaded. It helps to install an alternative and lighter launcher, for example, Launcher 3, Holo, or Apex.

3. Adjust animation in developer options

When you open an app, Android plays an animation to create a smooth transition. This small process also occupies the main memory. However, you can reduce the animation. To do this, open Developer options in Settings. If you can't find it there, you have to turn it on first: Go to the About phone item below, and on the next page tap Build number repeatedly until a message appears saying Developer options are enabled.

4. Save space: clear data, uninstall apps

If the memory of the smartphone is full, this affects the speed. So you should remove the redundant data or transfer it to the computer. Delete the contents of the Downloads folder which you can find in the app overview. You can also free the cell phone from more garbage, and tools like Avast Cleaner, Files Go, or Cleanmaster can help you.

Also, uninstall any apps you no longer use. Not only do they take up unnecessary storage space, but they can also use system resources in the background. In Settings, go to the Storage menu item and tap on the blue bar to free up storage space. Android lists all the apps that you haven't used in a long time. Select the ones you want to uninstall and tap Unlock at the bottom or, depending on your phone, tap Clear data and Uninstall.

On the Storage overview page, tap Memory and storage used by apps. Here you can see which apps are running in the background without connecting to them. Consider whether you need these programs.

Every smartphone also comes with some pre-installed apps that you may not use. You can't usually delete these easily, you need root access to do so. But be warned: You will likely lose your cell phone manufacturer's warranty if you do.

5. Cleaning caches and temporary storage

Android stores requested app data over and over again. You can delete this. However, the phone may run slower as it renews the files it needs.

To clear the cache anyway, go to Storage in Settings and scroll down to Cached data. Android will ask if you want to delete data, confirm OK.

Android also saves system data in the cache. To delete them you have to use a subtle detour: turn off the phone and then press and hold the Power, Volume Up, and Home buttons at the same time until the boot logo appears. Use the Volume keys to scroll down to wipe the cache partition item. Confirm this option with the Power button.

6. Put apps to sleep with Greenify

Many users think that task killer apps make their phones faster because they stop unnecessary processes and thus save memory. The opposite is true: when an app kills a background process, Android restarts it - and it gets busy. This makes the device slower and drains the battery.

7. Turn off automatic syncing of individual apps

Weather, Facebook, Dropbox, Google Account: Many smartphones are constantly syncing in the background. This is practical in many cases, but it slows down performance. If the smartphone is slow, you can turn off syncing of apps: go to Accounts in Settings. Click on individual accounts, such as those from Messenger. There you will find additional options such as sync contacts. Move the slider to Off. You can also turn off syncing for all apps on the overview page by clicking on the three dots at the top right. But this has its downsides: data is not available everywhere, and you have to sync each app in the accounts manually.

8. Keep Android up to date

Operating system and firmware updates often contain bug fixes and improvements that make a smartphone run faster. So you should always install system updates as soon as possible. To check if there is a new firmware update, go to Device info or System updates in Settings.

9. Import app updates

The same goes for apps: updates are not only important because of potential security vulnerabilities, but also because developers are improving apps. Go to the Play Store, and tap on the three lines in the top right, My Apps & Games. Android will tell you about updates there.

10. Save data externally

To prevent data from cluttering your phone's storage, store it on an SD card if your phone supports it. Or you can backup them automatically to Google Drive. Open the Google Photos app, and tap the three lines, Settings, and Backup & sync. Move the slider to On. Under Back up device folders, you can back up other directories, such as WhatsApp photos. You can now delete this data from the device.
